ISTH launches Global Public Affairs Committee to drive advocacy and policy influence

In a significant move to enhance its global impact, the ISTH has announced the formation of its new Global Public Affairs Committee. Led by Society experts Flora Peyvandi and Donna DiMichele, this committee is set to become a cornerstone of ISTH's efforts to shape public policy, influence regulatory decisions and advance the global dialogue on thrombosis and hemostasis.

Committee’s mission and goals

The ISTH Global Public Affairs Committee is dedicated to advocating for the Society's interests on the international stage. With a mission centered around integrity, inclusivity and multicultural sensitivity, the committee aims to promote the highest standards of patient care and scientific research in thrombosis and hemostasis. Its primary goals include:

  1. Policy influence: Actively engaging with policymakers to shape health policies that support research and patient care in thrombosis and hemostasis.
  2. Funding promotion: Identifying and advocating for funding opportunities to support research and educational initiatives.
  3. Awareness building: Launching campaigns to raise awareness about thrombosis and hemostasis among healthcare professionals and the public.
  4. Strategic partnerships: Forming alliances with governments, NGOs, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders to leverage expertise and resources.
  5. Information dissemination: Communicating the latest research findings, educational resources and clinical guidelines to a global audience.

Opportunities for ISTH members

The ISTH is inviting passionate and committed individuals to apply for membership on this new committee. The Society seeks members who are enthusiastic about working with public policy leaders, politicians and regulatory authorities, and who demonstrate personal and professional integrity. Ideal candidates will be collaborative, respectful and display strong multicultural sensitivity.

Applicants should be comfortable engaging with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and possess experience working internationally or in public affairs. By joining the committee, members will have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with peers globally, participate in high-impact engagements with public policy stakeholders and be recognized for their contributions to advancing ISTH's goals.
