The ISTH Early Career Committee aims to engage, support and advocate for early career professionals at the Society. This is achieved through a number of different initiatives targeted at early career members. The Committee is heavily involved in planning activities at the annual Congress, including the opening Early Career Session and lounge activities where attendees can meet and collaborate with fellow early career members.
In addition, the Early Career Committee has a biannual career development webinar on key topics of interest to the early career community, such as “preparing a successful abstract” and “what makes a great scientific presentation.” An annual editorial is published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, canvassing additional relevant topics, from coping with setbacks, to challenges facing early career women in the field.
The Early Career Committee looks forward to launching an Early Career Open Forum in June 2024, which will provide a collaborative online space wherein our early career members can engage with others, form network and discuss issues. The Early Career Open Forum will also provide an space to learn more about what the ISTH can offer early career members, including fellowship programs, how to engage with the ISTH Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC), as well as volunteer opportunities for early career members.
